Yes they are not legal to ride any where except your yard and drive way. You can not ride them in public parks, streets , sidewalks, mall parking lots unless you have the permission of the land owner.Are there any laws in LONG BEACH,CA about pocket bikes?
Riding a motorized vehicle such as a pocket bike on a bike path is also prohibited.

California DMV still states that they do not meet safety standards.
Until that's taken off the books, they can not be used on any public way.
