Are pocket bikes legal on sidewalks?

Also, what age do you have to be to be able to ride one? My little nephew birthday is coming up and he's been good so I'm thinking of getting one for him if my cousin okays it.Are pocket bikes legal on sidewalks?
No,they aren't what SO ever aloud on the side walk or the street u have to have an insurance to drive one and u can't go on the high way or nothing threes no where to drive them little thing u can't drive them on dirt it will Shake to much and bolts will losing and it will fall apart, why not get him a little 400$ dirt bike just a little pw50,Xr50 at laps

In a neighbourhood it would probably be okay as long as he is responsible. But seriously, a place with people, you could probably get in trouble for that kind of thing. Anything with a motor is not good to be riding around on sidewalks. If he could limit it to the streets around his house/neighbourhood it would probably be ok. I dont know anything about the age.
