I have a 1980 Ski-doo Elan and i keep on blowing the headlight .?
i think its the voltage regulator, my problem is i cant find it on my Elan . PLS help me find it or it might be something else, might be grounding out somewhere.I have a 1980 Ski-doo Elan and i keep on blowing the headlight .?
Try taking a voltmeter and checking(with headlight bulb removed) the voltage across the two terminals going to the bulb.
Turn on the light with the engine off-see what you read. And do the same thing with the engine running. Voltage should of course only increase a small amount.
If all looks ok. Leave the meter connected and ride it on some rough ground, see what happens. What changes do you see on the meter? Might be a connection going to ground thus blowing the bulb.
Hope this will help. Can be very frustrating.

I have a 1980 ski doo 5500 blizzard with twin carbs. its getting spark and fuel but it wont start. help please?
Possibly the crankshaft seal behind the clutch and the one behind the flywheel is sucking air. Occasionally the center (labyrinth) seal of the crankshaft blows through side to side so you're not transfering the fuel air mixture at the proper time. I realize the origional ski doo snowmobiles are supposed to have Bosch spark plugs. Try cross-referencing over to a pair of NGK's. The capacitive discharge ignition plate behond the flywheel may have loostened-up so the ignition timing isn't correct.
Are the ignition wires and boots in good shape? Is the fuel pump forcing fuel to the carburetors?I have a 1980 ski doo 5500 blizzard with twin carbs. its getting spark and fuel but it wont start. help please?
Did you change the spark plugs? Maybe the timing is off.

I have a 1994 Ski-Doo Mach 1 snowmobile. It will start, but not without trying hard.?
It tends to flood a lot, and when it does it won't start for a coulpe of day. I think the carb needs cleaned out, but I'm not sure.I have a 1994 Ski-Doo Mach 1 snowmobile. It will start, but not without trying hard.?
it tends to flood a lot because you are priming it too much. the 94 mach has a primer, not a choke as you know. when my ski doo had a primer, it was a touchy beast. there's a fine line between priming too much and not enough. also air temp has a lot to do with the priming amount. try only priming 2 pumps. give 2 to 3 pulls. if it doesn't fire, give another 2 pumps. pull 2 to 3 more pulls. if you get it to fire but not start, one pump on the primer, then pull. if it does flood you can do one of 2 things, have someone hold the throttle wide open while you pull your butt off. I would suggest you switch off with the person holding the throttle. or pull the plugs pull over the engine with the plugs out a few times, put in fresh plugs, and try pulling it over again. I would take it to a mechanic to have them make sure that the carbs are adjusted correctly also. good luckI have a 1994 Ski-Doo Mach 1 snowmobile. It will start, but not without trying hard.?
there should be a screw on the carb that will allow you to adjust the rate of gas flow to the carb itself; called "setting the jets." if it's flooded out, it will of course take more time in cold weather for the gas to evaporate. and, if you think it needs cleaning, it probably could stand one.I have a 1994 Ski-Doo Mach 1 snowmobile. try geting somewon to agust the idle
it sounds like your choke is not working right check that out try to start it with starting fluid or you might have a vacuum leak to find out if you have a vacuum leak get it started the get some starting fluid spray a little around the carbs and if it starts to die or it dies you have a vacuum leakvalvoline instant oil change

Ski doo rev 500ss lights guages not working.?
I have a 2006 ski doo rev 500ss and the lights and guages stoped working, iv checked the fuses and there fine.Ski doo rev 500ss lights guages not working.?
I have the same issue. Also have checked fuses. I have one bit of added information. A few weeks ago i started it and the lights and gauges were kicking on and off intermittenly as it ran. I shut it off thinking that it was just a result of sitting around all summer. When I started it recently the issue was permanent.infiniti g37

Looking at buying a used Ski-doo. What's the right size for my weight?
Looking at buying a used Ski-doo. I'm about 185 pounds and looking at a 92 Skandic 377. Too small for me? Here's the link:

Thanks.Looking at buying a used Ski-doo. What's the right size for my weight?
No, this isn't too small for you. It will not be a fast sled however. With the long track and the small motor this will top out around 55mph. Max... I'd prefer at least the 500 fan cooled myself. My current Ski Doo has the 583 liquid and gets moving much faster.
The 92 body style has a reputation for being poor in deep snow. In '95 the Skandic switched to a newer and better body style.
377cc fan: around 40 hp
500cc fan: 56 hp
583cc liquid: 103 hpLooking at buying a used Ski-doo. What's the right size for my weight?
i loved mine go for it!
