The motor is a 377 Rotax engine, with twin Mikuni Carburetors. The one carb on the clutch side will often backfire, and I can't get the motor to run for longer than like a minute. I changed all the fuel lines to make sure there were no leaks for air and that its running an enclosed circuit. Also the motor will compress 150 pounds on one side and 135 on the other.

Check the diaphragm fuel pump pressure and the crankcase impulse pressure line going into the fuel pump and the two fuel pressure lines going out to the carburetors. I'd have a new diaphragm kit inside the fuel pump quicker than snot. Are the rubber adapters between the engine and carburetors in good shape? Is the fuel filter and line to the bottom of the fuel tank in good shape? Remove the fuel filter and gas-cap and blow back inside the tank.
Make darn sure the gas-cap vent hole isn't plugged. Check the fuel floats and make sure both pilot jets are clear and clean.Check the carburetor air screw adjustments. As the air screws are turned clockwise the idle fuel mixture is made richer.
Hook an inductive timing light clamp to one of the spark plug wires and a car battery. Make syre the timing light is still flashing as the engine starts to quit. You may have a CDI ignition problem shutting off the engine.I have a 1980 Ski Doo Citation SS and it won't idle?
Low compression may be caused by worn compression rings on your pistons. But sometimes it may because of the sparkplugs if they are tightened down correctly. The fuel air mixture can sometimes escape thru the threads if the spark plugs arent tightened down correctly. Misfire can be caused from no spark to cylinders or fuel delivery or fuel pressure problems. But as a start you may want to check spark plugs.I have a 1980 Ski Doo Citation SS and it won't idle?
check and clean pilot jet. the wee little one.
those sleds were bad for, ignition box problems.
check for main jet sizes. my 1981 436cc liquid (9500blizzard) was 300/330 stock
meaning one side has bigger mainjet size.
my air cooled 340 yamaha runs best with #8 plug one side, #7 plug other side.
...fan side runs cooler.......yap it works.
I'd do a tear down and clean the cylinders and pistons. hone and new rings
...check your plug wires...and boots. NGKs look good

107 in a stock?? sled is decent. Is that according to the speedo?? or at a radar run?? How long did it take to get to that speed??
You might be able to go faster, but all depends.. Are you headed into the wind or going with it? On ice or in a field? Do you have a 10mile open stretch or a 1000'? Weight of the driver?? Gearing, clutching, belt condition...
You can always gear it to go faster on top end, but you will lose it on the bottom end.

I have a 1995 Ski Doo STX 583, myself, and, I, also was wondering, what other hood, or, hoods, would fit. So, I went about the task, of finding out, just exactly which hoods would fit, with no modifications, what so ever. Actually, there aren't many hoods, that will fit, exactly, without modifications, and, some pretty heavy ones, at that. Anyway, about all that will fit, decently, is a hood, from a 1997 Ski Doo Formula STX. I read, that, all snowmobile makes, change their body styles, including. the hoods, along, with the track, and, other items, about every two years, or so. This way, the sales, stay up, cause, the snowmobiling public, does not become tired, of one design, that has been done to death. So, what I did, was to install a hood, from a 1997 Ski Doo Formula STX 583, and, proceed to repaint it, and, add some different graphics, along, with some pinstriping, as well. It gets much attention, whenever anybody sees it. They ask, where I found a hood, like that. I tell them, that, it is nothing more, than a newer factory Ski Doo hood, installed, upon a couple years older, Ski Doo. The part that blows their minds, is the fact, that it is still a factory Ski Doo hood. I guess, it is the color of the hood, along, with the graphics, and, also, the pinstriping, as well. Like the saying goes... To each his/her own... And, that is what I wanted... A hood, that didn't look like everyone elses. It is not super radical, just enough, to stand out, from the rest. And, rhe best thing, is, that, the hood, is still all Ski Doo. Just now, the hood, is more pimped out. most likely you will have to modify it a little bit, but its definately doable, you can prob contact the manufacturer and get the right bracketsauto parts stores

I'm having trouble with my 1988 safari 503/R ski-doo taking the drive shaft out?
I'm working on my ski-doo.. i'm changing the frame beause of an accident this past winter.. and I got the drive shaft out on one side but won't seem to move at all on the other side in the gear box... please I really need help with this... and hidden screws anythng? I took a drive shaft out of a 377 with a bit of fore but nothinng this extremeI'm having trouble with my 1988 safari 503/R ski-doo taking the drive shaft out?
